Software License Protection

Since the introduction of Ride, Raisonance has implemented protections against illegal copying and use of its software products. Raisonance currently offers customers the choice of Hardware Protection (dongle) or Software Protection (serialization). Both solutions have advantages and drawbacks, but are offered at the same price.

Hardware Key

The "Hardware Key" is a dongle that unlocks the full functionality of the Raisonance product that you have bought simply by connecting it to the USB port of your PC. This allows the same software to be shared by several users while making sure that no more than one user at a time can use it. The disadvantage of the Hardware Key is that it can be lost or broken.

Software Key (serialization)

When you buy a product with a Software Key, you order confirmation with a product "serial number". If you have so requested, you may also received a CD-ROM with the serial number printed on it.

There are both automatic and manual methods for activating your software. Ride, when installed on a PC that is connected to the internet, will allow you to simply enter your product serial number. Ride automatically activates the software for the PC on which it is installed, using an Internet connection.

When you install the software, your PC will give you a unique "serialization code" which depends on your PC characteristics. With both the "serial number" + "serialization code" you can log on to Raisonance's website and you can get an "activation code" which will unlock the full functionality of the software you have already installed.

Software Key drawbacks: 

• If your PC crashes and you need to reinstall it, you will have to contact the Raisonance support team in order to reactivate your software.

• You can run the Software on one PC only. If you need to run the software on several PCs, we suggest the use of the "Hardware Key" (USB dongle), which makes it possible to use Ride on several PCs.
